Everything about it is wrong. The proportions mainly. I'm worried about the future of BMW.

early reviews are fairly excellent.

Ohh thank you. Finally someone else on here that isn't praising BMW's new strategy.

The new 2016 Kia Forte, by BMW. Sheer driving convenience.

Apparently it's pretty decent to drive handling wise so it seems BMW still care a little about making them a step above most beigemobiles. They were always going to end up branching out sometime since both Audi and Merc have too. Certainly an ugly car in my eyes though.

BMW can make FWD Minis fun to drive, so I'd think they could make FWD BMWs fun to drive.

I rather like it. My favorite current BMW remains the 3 Touring, then maybe the i cars (still on the fence about some aspects), but this is pretty nice.

Worry not.

Or maybe a hellfire missile

Where did they go wrong?

They are going to compete with this (which is selling quite well).

I think most people's objection to the 2 AT is they feel BMW shouldn't be making a tall fwd hatchback. But it could be a very nice tall fwd hatchback.

Not again! The bitching about how BMW has lost their ways is getting sooo old. It's tripping over it's own beard by now.
Would you rather have a company that only sells 3/5/7 series and is beloved by enthusiasts but not actually selling many cars, always being on the brink of becoming extinct as they lack the funds for new products. Or would you want them to be a brand that still builds the cars that made them great, yet does invest and spread out into other territories as well. Last time I checked they were still making 3/5/7 series cars, and they were pretty damn good. Remember the whining when they released the first X5? (You were too young, I guess.) Turned out it was the best handling SUV at the time. Now a FWD Minivan! Oh noes! Turns out it has superb handling as it's basically a Mini with a more conservative body. They are really stepping up their game, while sticking to their core value "driving pleasure". Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, I know. It's just that the FWD sickness will spread to other BMW models.

I'm mainly worried about the spread of FWD in the BMW line up.

Yeah, just like the Mercedes column shifter plague.

I said the same thing when this was announced, and I'm going to say it again: who's copying who now?
I'm fairly certain the Carens debuted before the BMW. Smart money buys the Carens, because it's undoubtedly less expensive for virtually the same exact car.

No, the 2015 Kia Carens

I'd be very surprised if the 3,4,5,6,7 ever go to fwd. The 1 series and the x3/4 might though. I can't say it bothers me too much as long as theres rwd in the range which I imagine there always will be.

If you think the current3/5/7 are "sticking to their core values" we have different memories of BMW (maybe not the 7). They want to cash in on their name by filling every niche imaginable? That's their entitlement because they built their brand. But as a fan of 80s 3 and 5 series, I haven't seen anything I would recognize in 2 generations.
I was so damn close on an 08 335, but the test drive made all the numbers meaningless.

Well, I can undderstand you there. To me, the pinnacle of the 5-series was the E39. It just went downhill from there. But that's MY PROBLEM. A problem I have with new cars in general. And to be fair:
If you want this, but also want a new car, there is/was this.
There just isn't any money in building a car "like they used to".

let's not forget the Kia came first
